Down To The Wire
April 4 - Here it is Easter Sunday and I have been running around getting the laundry done and last minute items packed. My girls called and are so worried about me, I have to keep reassuring them that I will be fine. I leave tomorrow morning at 6:45 a.m. for Jamaica for orientation. I am a little apprehensive because I don't know what to expect or what is waiting for me.
April 3, I packed and re-packed to get the weight of my luggage down, since we were told we have a weight restriction from Jamaica to Haiti. Talked with a few of the people I'm traveling with on FB and they are over the limit also. I even ran out today, nothing like the last minute and bought a Duffle Bag with wheels, because there was no way, that I could carry this one. I took the mat out because it was too bulky. rying to get everything togetherm, getting a little nervous.

Preparation for my trip to Haiti
Getting Ready to go to Haiti
There are so many things to get done before you take that trip that will change your life. I am so excited about going to be able to help these people who desperately need our help. A group of 32 of us from several countries have been chosen to serve in this first round on the Global Volunteer Network Program Development Team in Haiti. We will be briefed on what exactly this means when we arrive in Jamaica.
February 11, I went down to CDC and got all my shots, I thought I would have to wait a long time but I was in an out within a 1/2 hour.
February 12, Went to the Red Cross at 8:30 in the morning and took the CPR Course for Adults, Children and Infants , AED and First Aid. What a long day that was. There were 7 people in the class so we didn't have to share manikins, which made the class go quicker. We were done around 6:30 p.m., took the test, passed, got my certificates and I was out of there.
The next step is trying to raise the money for the trip. I e-mailed and called my friends and family and got a positive response from everyone. Cherie and Donna, my daughters, are calling me and telling me how worried they are about me going and of course Cherie reads all this stuff and tries to scare me. My dear husband says he will be worried but it's for a good cause.
Met some of the people on Facebook that I will be teamed up with. Everyone has been so nice and helpful. We e-mail back and forth every day.
Went on line and ordered some of the supplies that i would need such as: lightweight sleeping bag, Solar power charger, wind up flash light, water purification tablets and a rain poncho.
